1934:
John V.B. Martin acquires the "Château". Originally built as a spa in 1906 due to the renowned quality of its Mineral Water and modelled after a Rhineland abbey.

1934-1981:
The Martin family converts the Château into a Schweppes Indian Tonic production plant.

1972:
The lake of Genval (17 hectares) is bought and renovated.

1981:
The production of Schweppes at the Château ends and is transferred to a new site in Genval. The new Martin generation, led by John Martin’s grandson, John Martin, assisted by his wife, Huguette, take on the challenge of transforming the "old factory" into a seminar and convention centre, and, later, to a five star hotel - the Martin's Château du Lac.

1982:
The Manoir du Lac is acquired.

1983:
The first meeting rooms open at the Genval Country Club (soon to become the Martin's Château du Lac).

1985:
Inauguration of the Martin's Château du Lac with 15 seminar rooms. Opening of the Trèfle à 4, the gourmet restaurant
of the Martin's Château du Lac.

1986:
Opening of 38 rooms at the Martin's Château du Lac. The Trèfle à 4 receives two Michelin stars.

1988:
The Martin family cedes its Belgian Schweppes franchise to Cadbury Schweppes. It acquires the Villa du Lac, with its magnificent 3-hectare park, on the shores of Genval lake as well as Le Lido, a charming 27-room hotel in Rixensart.

1990:
Le Manoir du Lac is transformed into a 13-room "Country House Hotel". It is available exclusively.

1992:
The Grand Hôtel Waterloo, four-star with 79 rooms, opens its doors on the site of the former Sucrerie (sugar refinery) in Waterloo.

1994:
The new Argentine room (1,000 m2) is inaugurated in the Martin's Château du Lac.

1995:
46 new rooms are added to the Château.

1996:
The John Harris Fitness Centre opens on the rooftop of the Martin's Château du Lac.

1998:
The Martin's Château du Lac receives a 5th star and expands with 38 new rooms (a total of 122 bedrooms).

2001:
Inauguration of 5 Gems, the Martin's Château du Lac's new seminar rooms (22 in all). The Trèfle à 4 is transformed making way for Genval.Les.Bains, a trendy restaurant-lounge-bar-coffee-and-tea-room at the Martin's Château du Lac, with an undeniably modern style.

Meeting rooms and apartments of the Villa du Lac are renovated.

2003:
The Klooster Hotel (40 rooms), a Boutique Hotel of incomparable charm, opens in July in the historical centre of Leuven.

2004:
Opening of the Ô berge du Lac, a lakeside venue for meetings, seminars or weddings, catering for up to 150 people.

2005:
September, the opening of Martin's Brugge, situated right in the historic heart of Bruges, the "Venice of the North" (150 rooms, 8 meeting rooms). 2005: Opening of John Martin's Bodywhealth, wellness and fitness centre on the rooftop of the Martin's Château du Lac, replacing John Harris.

2006:
The creation of the Cercle du Martin-Pêcheur a stone's throw from the Martin's Château du Lac (an exclusive club-restaurant which can host up to 150 people for cocktails, and 80 guests for weddings or banquets).

The hotel group, proud of its success, changes it name from "Stars Network" to "Martin’s Hotels".

2007:
The opening, in March, of Martin's Brussels EU, in the heart of the European quarter of Brussels (100 rooms, 6 meeting rooms).

2008:
May:
Martin’s Hotels take over the prestigious hotel “De Orangerie” in Bruges, member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World,
and is renamed Martin’s Orangerie (20 rooms).

June:
Opening of Martin’Spa Bodywhealth, 1 500 m2 entirely dedicated to well-being and fitness, on the roof of the Martin's Château du Lac.

August:

Acquisition of the hotel “Tassche” in Bruges, allowing the extension of Martin’s Brugge and the total rooms from 150 to 177.

October:

Opening, just next to Martin’s Grand Hotel Waterloo, of a new 3-star hotel: the Martin’s Waterloo.

2009:
May:

The keenly anticipated opening of Martin’s Patershof, in the very heart of Mechelen. An unprecedented and astonishing metamorphosis of a church into an ultra-modern hotel with 79 rooms and various seminar areas where guests can enjoy their extraordinary events in the Choir!

July :
Martin’s Relais Oud Huis Amsterdam (44 rooms and 5 meeting rooms). That is the name of a unique configuration of great merchants' houses dating from the 17th century, which has been part of Martin's Hotels since July 15th 2009.

2012:
April :
Extension of the Martin’s Klooster.  Now a total of 103 rooms, of which 64 elegant additional rooms, a new Orangery and a new Conference Center with 3 spacious meeting rooms at the heart of Louvain.

September :
Martin’s Hotels has taken a fundamental new step by obtaining EMAS certification for its environmental management system. This is the most demanding environmental certification there is. Martin’s Hotels is the only hotel group in Europe to have successfully met such a challenge.

2016:
September:
Inauguration of Martin’s Red (79 rooms) at the Belgian Football Center in Tubize.

In terms of overall capacity, the figures for 2017 are:

Einde 2017:
De groep Martin's Hotels heeft uitgebreide ervaring in het karaktervolle hotelwezen in België en kondigt nu met veel genoegen de opening van haar eerste hotel in Frankrijk aan: het Martin's Hotel du Hainaut in Valenciennes (79 kamers en suites).

In 2018 opent Martin’s Hotels een nieuw Stadsresort in Louvain-la-Neuve met 2 hotels : Martin’s Louvain-la-Neuve (108 kamers)
en Martin’s All Suites (103 suites & appartementent)
en
Martin’s Rentmeesterij, een luxehotel (75 kamers & suites) in Bilzen in het hart van de Landcommanderij Alden Biezen van uitzonderlijke historische waarde.
