De Burg and the town hall
De Burg is one of the most beautiful places in Bruges. This is the site of the town hall, which has been in continual operation since 1376.
At 83 metres high, the belfry towers over Bruges. You can visit the tower: on your way to the top – where you have a breathtaking view of the city – you pass the treasury, the impressive cogwheels of the tower clock, and a carillon with 47 bells.
The beguinage and the Minnewater
In 1245, the princely beguinage “Ten Wijngaarde” was founded – and to this day it is inhabited by Benedictine nuns.
